Vertiver Strategy

Design

Overview

Design is a term that is used loosely across products and processes in various disciplines. At Vertiver, design is a process, a thought process and an outcome. We design to turn otherwise boring content into engaging visual content, we design ads, we design films, we design experiences, we design apps and websites and we apply design thinking for problem solving. So for us 'design' is a language we apply to the problems of enviornmental and social issues to construct 'designed' stories and narratives that engage people into them. We are all designers at Vertiver and there is no doubt we need to 'design' ourselves out of the mess that we have created in the planet.

Forest Are Life

What we did?

While working on various communications on forests in India we noticed that there was no official campaign in India to mark the International Day of Forests. So ,we conceptualized and developed the “forests are life” campaign which was launched by MOEFCC and USAID on March 21, 2015. We created an iconic representation of the word Forests by representing each character in the word ‘forests’ into a unique service that forests provide in India. We created more than 14 different graphics in multiple languages to represent the relationship of forests to culture, biodiveristy, water etc. We are extremely proud of this campaign, as it went on to become a repeating campaign launched each year by the government. Over the past 3 years we have developed new variations on the theme of forests are life and in 2017 the Chief Minister of Assam launched the Forests are Life campaign across digital and print media across the state. By working closely with folk artists and folk styles to represent the intricate relationship that India’s communities and biodiversity has with forests, we have been able to bring to life the essence of the importance of forests to India, its people, culture and future.
